Software P2x for P26 and P29

The software P2x is for P26 and P29 devices from halstrup-walcher GmbH.

First steps

  1. Make sure that “Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5” is installed, before running the program.
  2. By default the language is set to German. Click on “Extra” àSpracheàEnglisch” to change the language to English.
  3. Choose the ComPort (Extra à ComPort).
  4. Connect the Device to the selected ComPort and to the supply.
  5. Now click on the button “Connect” to connect to the device. The current value of the device will be displayed.

Load the settings of the device

If the connection is established, you can load the settings of the device by pressing the button “Load”.

The device can be set back to factory settings by selecting the checkbox ‘Factory settings’ before pressing the button ‘Load’.

Change the settings of the device

By pressing the button “Send” the settings will be sent to the device. If a parameter is wrong (e.g. out of range) or an error occurs, the input field becomes red.

Inactive settings (grayed out) will not be sent to then device. To change these settings you have to use a mode, when they are activated.

The settings are saved permanently in the device only if all parameters were transferred successfully.

Load/Save settings on the PC

The settings can be saved in a file and load again from the file (e.g. for programming another device with the same settings).
To create a file with the settings go to “Settings”
à “Save as …”.
To open a file go to “Settings”
à “Open …”.

Settings

Scale

The P26/P29 is usually supplied with standard measuring ranges. You can use the scale to adjust the measuring range for your own use. This pressure range forms the basis for many other settings such as the limits for the relays (warnings) and factors for the flow display. The scaled range should always be more than 0.1 times of that of the P2x’s measuring range, because otherwise the resolution of the outputs and the accuracy will be poorer.

Bottom

With this item, you can set the pressure at which the output will achieve its minimum value (e.g. 4mA, 0mA, -5V or 0V). Any value within the P2x’s measuring range can be set.

Top

With this item, you can set the pressure at which the output will achieve its maximum value (e.g. 20mA, +5V or +10V). Any value within the measuring range can be selected. It can also be less than the lower scale value.

Circulatory

This is used to set the volumetric flow value displayed at the maximum scaled pressure (top scale). Zero is always used as the lower scale value (bottom scale) on the volumetric flow display (root-extracted measured value).

Mass flow

This is used to set the mass flow value displayed at the maximum scaled pressure (top scale). Zero is always used as the lower scale value (bottom scale) on the mass flow display (root-extracted measured value).

Flow rate

This is used to set the flow rate value displayed at the maximum scaled pressure (top scale). Zero is always used as the lower scale value (bottom scale) on the flow rate display (root-extracted measured value).

Display/Output

Unit

The display unit can be selected with this item.

The setting also affects the output:

Linear: Pa, hPa, kPa, mbar, mmH2O, mmHg, Psi, inH2O, inHg

            Root extracted: m³/s, m³/h, kg/s, kg/min, kg/h, m/s, mph, f/s, f/min, km/h, ft³/h (The bottom-scale must be set to 0 and the top-scale > 0)

Output

With this parameter, you can select the output type and output range. You can choose from the following options:

4…20 mA

0…20 mA

-5V…+5V

0V…10V

The setting ‘Unit’ also affects the output:

Linear: Pa, hPa, kPa, mbar, mmH2O, mmHg, Psi, inH2O, inHg

            Root extracted: m³/s, m³/h, kg/s, kg/min, kg/h, m/s, mph, f/s, f/min, km/h, ft³/h (The bottom-scale must be set to 0 and the top-scale > 0)

Resolution

This parameter affects the display resolution. The display is changed according to the adjusted values. For example, if the setting is 1%, the display changes to show the measuring range in 1% jumps. This can be used with severely fluctuating pressures to steady the display. However, this does not have any affect on the relays. For a device without display, this setting is unimportant.

Sound

With this parameter, the signal that a key has been pressed can be switched on or off. The duration in ms of the sound can be set too. For a device without display, this setting is unimportant.

Language

The menu language can be selected here. For a device without display, this setting is unimportant. You can choose from the following languages:

English

German

Italian

French

Zero-point calibration [min]

This parameter specifies the time interval for the automatic zero-point calibration. The entry is in min. Setting the parameter to 0 deactivates automatic zero-point calibration.

Filter [ms]

The measured pressure values can be smoothened by a filter before they reach the display or analogue output. This parameter lets you set a time constant for this filter.

LFV[%]

This parameter specifies the value for creep suppression as a percentage. If this value falls short of the measured pressure value, the display is set to zero. Creep suppression only works with volumetric flow, mass flow and flow rate (root-extracted measurement values).

Menu password

You can use this menu item to specify an access code for the menu. If the code is not 0, the access code will be queried after the Menu key has been pressed. Only when the correct code has been entered you can proceed to the menu. If the code is 0, this query will not be made. This setting can’t be read from the device, it can only be written. For that reason the input field for the password will be empty after loading the settings from a device. For a device without display, this setting is unimportant and must be set to 0.

Relays

Use this group box to influence the behaviour of the relays. The relays are only available in the P26.

Switching pressure

This is used to adjust the pressure value at which the particular relay should switch. The pressure range defined by the scale should be used as the setting range.

Switching direction

Here you can specify whether the relay is activated if the warning pressure is exceeded or not met (relay switching direction). This affects the processing of the hysteresis value.

Switch delay [ms]

The entry value of the relays is derived from the unfiltered pressure value. With this parameter, you can now specify how long the pressure value can be exceeded or not met until the relay switches.

Dropout delay [ms] (from Rev 2.11)

The entry value of the relays is derived from the unfiltered pressure value. With this parameter, you can now specify how long the relay stays active after the pressure value falls back to the inactive relay state.

Alarm duration [ms]

If one of the limits is exceeded and the relay activated, a warning signal sounds at one-second intervals. With this parameter, you can set the duration of this warning signal for each relay. The maximum value here is 1000 ms (continuous tone). If both relays are active, the longer warning signal of the two sounds. The warning signal may sound different depending on the activation level. A warning signal duration of 0 ms switches the signal off.

Hysteresis

This item can be used to select the hysteresis for the particular relay. The hysteresis is always positive.

Consumption

Consumption values are only accessible under the following circumstances:

·         Air consumption function is set active in the P2x- device

·         Parameter Unit is set to one of the following values (m³/s, m³/h, ft³, kg/s, kg/min, kg/h)

·         The P2x-Device is connected with the PC via USB or RS232 interface

·         The consumption protect code is entered and verified from the P2x device

Otherwise the components in the consumption area will be disabled.

Mode

There are 3 modes to calculate the air consumption sum:

Off           -    air consumption function is switched off

Σ(∆P>0)  -    air consumption is calculated from all positive flow values

Σ(∆P)       -    air consumption is calculated from all (+ or -)flow values with respect to the flow direction

Σ(abs∆P) -    air consumption is calculated from all absolute value of flow values

Flow values in the range of +/- LFV are not used for the calculation of air consumption sum.

The settings for the unit and mass and flow parameters are disabled, if the Air consumption function is active.

Vol./Pulse, Mass/Pulse

This parameter sets the volume or mass flow indicated by one relay pulse. Volume or mass units are selected by the flow type selected with the measure unit.

Pulse dur.

This sets the duration in ms of the relay pulse indicating the above specified amount of mass or volume flow. If this pulse duration is too short mechanical counter might miss pulses.

Pulse break

This sets the min. delay in ms after any air consumption related relay pulse.

Filter

Off means the flow values are calculated from the unfiltered stream of pressure values.

On means the flow values are calculated from the filtered stream of pressure values. The filter time constant is set with the value ‘Filter’ in the ‘Display/Output’ section.

Pulse out

This parameter sets the relay(s) which will generates the mass or flow count pulses. The according relay’s mode is set to consumption and the components in this area are disabled.

Code

The settings of the air consumption counter are protected with a 4 digit code. The code must be entered and afterwards checked with the verify button. The P26 checks the code and will set an internal flag enabling alteration of the air consumption function. This Flag will be cleared by power on/off or checking with a wrong code.

Verify

This sends the code to the P2x-device to be checked against the internally stored code. If code is correct the P2x-device will allow to change the air consumption parameters.

Former sum

If protect code entered correct and air consumption components are not disabled the air consumption sum might be reset. In this case the P2x-device will save the actual sum in an internal non volatile memory before it resets the actual air consumption value. This value is shown in the box titled with ‘Former Sum’.

Recall sum

The actual air consumption sum can be overwritten with internal saved former sum value. Operation time will be restored as well.

Reset sum

The actual air consumption sum and operation time will be saved in an internal memory and afterward both values will be reset to 0.

Display

With these parameters, you can define the behaviour of the new bigger Display. For P26 devices without the new display, this panel will not be shown.

Brightness    - this parameter sets the intensity of the LED-backlight.

Contrast         - this parameter can optimize the contrast, if you use a different viewing angle or work at extreme temperatures.

Backlight       - choose between none, white or blue backlight.

Colorchange - if this setting is activated the backlight color will change from green over yellow to red if any of the warning levels has been exceeded and the backlight is activated.
